Vortex Management

Every modern F1 floor relies on a network of deliberately generated vortices to keep high-pressure air on the outside of the car from leaking into the low-pressure region working underneath it.

Y250 and outwash

The Y250 vortex, generated at the front wing's neutral section, and the outwash elements further out on the wing work together to push "dirty" wake air away from the front tyres and toward the outside of the car — protecting the floor's leading edge from disturbed airflow.

Why sealing efficiency matters

A floor that seals well holds its downforce more consistently as ride height changes through a corner. Small losses in sealing efficiency compound quickly: a few percentage points can be the difference between a floor that's fast in low-speed corners and one that's fast everywhere.
